The Saints made a number of roster moves on Wednesday.

The team placed running back Marcus Murphy (ankle) and cornerback Damian Swann (concussion) on injured reserve and signed running back Kendall Hunter and cornerback Tony Carter.

The Saints also promoted fullback Toben Opurum from the practice squad and signed wide receiver Shane Wynn to take his place.

Hunter was released by the San Francisco 49ers with an injury settlement in September. He was working his way back from a torn ACL.

Serving as Frank Gore’s backup in San Francisco, Hunter, 27, rushed for 1,202 yards on 262 carries (4.6 yards per attempt) and seven touchdowns between the 2011-2013 seasons. He also caught 27 passes for 268 yards and returned a handful of kicks.

In New Orleans, the 5-foot-7, 199-pound Hunter joins Tim Hightower and C.J. Spiller in the backfield. Along with Murphy, Mark Ingram (shoulder) and Khiry Robinson (leg) are also on injured reserve.
