WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. — Defensive end Akiem Hicks is off the field for his second straight practice, leading the list of Saints out of action.

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who didn’t get much work in the scrimmage other than returning punts, is being held out, but he is attending practice. Kenny Phillips is in the same boat, watching from the sideline.

Cooks and Phillips, along with rookie linebacker Davis Tull, are riding an exercise bike during practice.

Safety Jairus Byrd is also missing, although he’s been doing rehab work the last week. Rookie offensive lineman Cyril Lemon is not at practice, battling a minor injury.

The good news for New Orleans is several Saints have returned to practice. Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, tight end Josh Hill, tight end Kevin Brock, cornerback Damian Swann and linebacker Anthony Spencer all appear to be back to practice in some capacity.
