Starting Saints LBs David Hawthorne and Curtis Lofton missed practice Friday with injuries, and they were among 10 New Orleans players listed on the team’s injury report as questionable for Sunday night’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Hawthorne (toe) has been out of practice since Wednesday. Lofton practiced fully on Wednesday and Thursday.
Others who were limited in Friday’s practice and are questionable for the contest against the Cowboys are WR Marques Colston (knee), DE Cameron Jordan (ankle), G Jahri Evans (hip), TE Jimmy Graham (elbow/foot) and S Malcolm Jenkins (knee).
Jenkins and Jordan missed Wednesday and Thursday. Evans and Graham missed Wednesday. Colston was limited since Wednesday and, along with Jenkins, missed the Week 9 loss to the Jets on Nov. 3.
S Roman Harper (knee), DE Tyrunn Walker (knee) and DE Tom Johnson (hip) all fully participated in practice all week, including Friday, but the Saints say all three are questionable.
TE Josh Hill (foot), RB Darren Sproles (concussion) and S Kenny Vaccaro (chest) are all probable. Vaccaro was limited Wednesday but a full participant the rest of the week. Hill and Sproles were full participants all week.
In case they can’t play Sunday, Hawthorne’s backup is Will Herring and Lofton’s is Ramon Humber.
As for safeties other than Jenkins, Vaccaro and Harper (who’s been inactive in games since after Week 2), there’s Rafael Bush and Isa Abdul-Quddus. Chris Carr also plays a hybrid/cornerback safety role.
“I’d be surprised if David can’t go — he’s a guy who can play through pain,” Herring said Friday. “But if he can’t, I’ve got to be ready.
“Rob does a good job of putting the game plan together with all the other coaches, and I feel good.”
Carr added, “That’s always been a part of my game: versatility. If they ask me to go out there and play a position other than corner, I’m going to be ready for it. I know the plan.”
In Dallas, the Cowboys ruled out CB Morris Claiborne, a former LSU standout, with a hamstring injury. LB DeVonte Holloman (neck) and S J.J. Wilcox (knee) were also scratched Friday.
WR Miles Austin (hamstring) is doubtful. DT Jason Hatcher (neck) is questionable. WR Dez Bryant (back) and DE DeMarcus Ware (thigh) are among several players listed as probable.
