Former Saints player Steve Gleason, whose fight against ALS has capitivated the nation and led to a "No White Flags" movement to raise awareness about the disease, was admitted to the hospital last weekend and hopes to return home on Monday.
The information about Gleason was posted on the Team Gleason facebook page.
"Some has speculated about Steve being hospitalized," the post wrote. "It is true, but not unlike most other pals, including our friend Pete Frates who frequently face ALS like a boss..."
The post does not say why Gleason was hospitalized.
"Steve was admitted this past week-end, but is doing better and plans to go home tonight," it said. "Having an Oscar dedicated to those battling ALS was fitting, as Steve and countless others with ALS experience extreme physical challenges daily."
