The New Orleans Saints have re-signed linebacker Adam Bighill to the practice squad, a source told The Advocate on Thursday, bringing the former CFL star back into the fold after a cameo in the season opener.

Bighill was called up to the active roster before Monday night's season opener in order to fill a gap left by the status of recovering linebackers Stephone Anthony and Nate Stupar.

Anthony (ankle) and Stupar (hamstring) both practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday, and the MCL sprain suffered by tackle Zach Strief on Monday created a need for another offensive lineman.

Bighill, who led the Saints with 20 tackles in the preseason and added a game-clinching sack and an interception, played 14 snaps on special teams against the Vikings but did not make a tackle.
