Ted Lewis: 10 thoughts 'from a night when the Saints were definitely less than a perfect 10' _lowres

Advocate staff photo by PATRICK DENNIS --Saints RB Marcus Murphy (48) is congratulated by team mate TE Kevin Brock (85) after Murphy scored the go-ahead TD before the Ravens came back in the final seconds of Baltimore's 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints Thursday in the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

The big questions today is who plays and how much do they play.

Saints coach Sean Payton already addressed his quarterback rotation earlier this week, saying that Drew Brees would only see a handful of snaps and then be spelled by Luke McCown. Ryan Griffin and Garrett Grayson will play the second half.

The Houston Texans have rested their stars throughout the preseason, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if defensive end J.J. Watt and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork spend most of the day on the sidelines.

It appears it will be a day for younger players to further prove themselves and try to lock down a roster spot before roster are cut down to 75 players on Tuesday. There should be plenty of opportunity for those players to improve their stocks. And those who haven’t received many snaps, such as cornerback Delvin Breaux, should have ample opportunity to get reps in.

Payton also said the team didn’t do much game planning for this one, so don’t expect to see a lot of new wrinkles — especially since these teams will play again in the regular season.
