BALTIMORE — Don’t expect to see much of Drew Brees tonight. In fact, the Saints best course of action could be to keep the veteran quarterback sidelined and turn things over to the backups.

Along with Brees, the Saints need to get a look at Ryan Griffin, Luke McCown, and Ryan Griffin. The team knows what it has with Brees. It needs to determine which of the other quarterbacks is best suited to serve as his backup.

If Brees doesn’t play, the expectation is that McCown will get the start, with Griffin coming on in reserve, and Grayson playing in the fourth quarter.

Brees didn’t play much last preseason due to an oblique strain, throwing only 15 passes, and was ready for the season opener. It wouldn’t hurt to have him sit one out and get his reps in later games.

McCown and Griffin were in a similar battle last preseason. McCown ultimately won out and Griffin ended up on the practice squad.

Weather: It’s expected to be around 80 degrees at kickoff.

Officials: Referee Clete Blakeman, Umpire Jeff Rice, Head linesman Hugo Cruz, Line Judge Carl Johnson, Back Judge Steve Patrick, Field Judge Terry Brown, Side Judge Joe Larrew

We’ll update this post with pregame observations.
