The Saints will have a new backup quarterback next season.

After signing Chase Daniel to a one-year deal last week, New Orleans is releasing backup quarterback Luke McCown, according to a source.

McCown spent the last four seasons with the Saints, and made one start, a 2015 game against the Carolina Panthers when he 32 of 39 passes for 335 yards with an interception.

Daniel previously spent four seasons with the Saints but left in 2013 to join the Kansas City Chiefs. He played last season with the Philadelphia Eagles. His contract contain offsets so he is still due money from the Eagles.

Daniel's one-year deal with the Saints is worth $900,000, which is fully guaranteed. He can earn another $3 million in incentives that are listed as not likely to be earned.
