Drew Brees passed for 270 yards and three touchdowns Sunday, lifting the New Orleans Saints to their first win of the season, 30-13 over the Chicago Bears Sunday at the Superdome.
Brees’ 79-yard touchdown pass to former LSU star Devery Henderson in the second quarter highlighted a stretch of 16 unanswered points that allowed New Orleans (1-1) to take control of the game.
Darren Sproles and Robert Meachem also caught touchdown passes for the Saints, who rebounded from an opening-night loss at Green Bay to pick up the convincing win.
Brees completed 26 of 37 passes with no interceptions, helping make up for a mostly ineffective Saints running game. Mark Ingram rushed for 51 yards on 14 carries.
New Orleans’ defense made up for a tough opening-day game at Green Bay by harrassing Jay Cutler into a 19-for-44, 244-yard passing day. Junior Galette sacked Cutler twice.
