The five-year extension signed by Cam Jordan earlier this week gives the Saints a little bit of breathing room.

The deal carries a $4.169 cap charge in the first year, down from $6.969 million, which leaves the Saints with a little more than $3.5 million in cap space for the 2015 season.

In all, the deal carries a cash value of $61,969 million, including a $16 million signing bonus, and $33.469 million in guarantees, according to a source.

The breakdown is as follows:

2015

Base salary: $969,000 (fully guaranteed)

Signing bonus: $16 million (prorated)

Total cap charge: $4.169 million

2016

Base salary: $3.5 million (injury only, fully guaranteed if on roster third day of the league year)

Roster bonus: $6 million

Workout bonus: $100,000

Total cap charge: $12.8 million

2017

Base salary: $7 million (injury only, fully guaranteed if on roster third day of the league year)

Workout bonus: $100,000

Incentive: Up to $1.25 million for sacks

Total cap charge: $10.3 million

2018

Base salary: $8.4 million

Roster bonus: $500,000 due on fifth day of the league year

Workout bonus: $100,000

Additional bonus: $18,750 per game

Incentive: Up to $1.25 million for sacks

Total cap charge: $12.5 million

2019

Base salary: $8 million

Roster bonus: $500,000 due on fifth day of the league year

Workout bonus: $100,000
