New Orleans Saints defensive end Glenn Foster and safety Isa Abdul-Quddus will miss Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Atlanta Falcons at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, their team said Friday. Foster and Quddus both hurt their ankles during the preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins on Aug. 29 and missed practices throughout the week.
Meanwhile, for the Atlanta Falcons, linebacker Stephen Nicholas (thigh), cornerback Asante Samuel (thigh) and wide receiver Roddy White (ankle) are questionable. The Falcons listed kicker Matt Bryant (back) and center Joe Hawley (unspecified illness) on their injury report Friday, but both are probable.
Foster, an undrafted rookie out of Illinois, led the Saints with four sacks in the preseason, and he is one of five defensive ends on New Orleans’ 53-man roster.
Quddus, in his third year with the Saints, is one of five safeties on the team.
Despite being on the injury report filed with the league Friday, wide receiver Nick Toon (chest), wide receiver Marques Colston (foot), running back Travaris Cadet (foot), right tackle Zach Strief (back), guard Jahri Evans (back), linebacker Kevin Reddick (shoulder) and tackle Terron Armstead (stomach) are all probable and fully participated in the practice session on Friday at the Superdome.
