BALTIMORE — Running back C.J. Spiller and safety Jairus Byrdheadline the list of Saints who don’t appear to be available for the team’s preseason opener against the Ravens.

Neither player is a surprise. Byrd has been doing rehab work, but he has not practiced yet, and Spiller wasn’t on the field for Tuesday’s final practice before the road trip.

Beyond the two starters, wide receiver Jalen Saunders, linebackerRonald Powell, offensive guard Sean Hickey and offensive tackle Nick Becton are both out of uniform as the team gets ready to warm up.

Out of those four, only Powell is a surprise. Saunders has been out for the past week, and Hickey and Becton missed the last two practices before the team left for the Ravens.

Being the first preseason game, the Saints could still hold out several veterans.
