The Saints have traded one Davis for another, signing linebacker Todd Davis while releasing cornerback A.J. Davis in a waived/injured deal.

Todd Davis (6-foot-1, 230 pounds) went undrafted out of Sacramento State and was unsigned by any NFL team until the Saints added him Monday.

In four seasons at Sacramento State, he appeared in 45 games and posted career totals of 391 tackles, 9.5 assists and 30 tackles for a loss.

He was the Hornets’ team defensive MVP as a senior, first-team All-Big Sky Conference and second-team FCS All-America by Sports Network.

A.J. Davis originally signed with the Saints out of Jacksonville State after the 2012 draft.

He was placed on injured reserve in the preseason but was brought back for the practice squad in November.

He was activated for the final game of the season, in which he had no statistics playing special teams.

Davis was placed on the waived/injured list again in August and re-signed in January.

The Saints roster remains at 90 players, the maximum allowed for the opening of training camp in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, on July 25.
