1. THERE’S A LOT ON THE LINE
Friday will mark an especially important moment for Tim Lelito, Senio Kelemete and Marcel Jones. Candidates to add depth to the offensive line, Kelemete and Jones are likely to start ahead of LG Ben Grubbs and RG Jahri Evans (both doubtful). Lelito’s competing to be the starting center and was working with the 1s as the game neared.
2. WHO’S NUMBER TWO?
Neither Ryan Griffin nor Luke McCown have been running away with the No. 2 quarterback job in training camp. In their last showing Wednesday, each led two-minute drill drives that failed. With Drew Brees doubtful after suffering a strained oblique, they’ll have a chance to get some separation in St. Louis.
3. JUST KICKIN’ IT
Things are deadlocked at kicker as well. Incumbent Shayne Graham seemed like he may be slipping in his competition with young challenger Derek Dimke after missing two field-goal tries Aug. 1 and Saturday. But he has gone perfect since as Dimke misfired on two attempts of his own.
