Brandon Browner completed a successful week of practice and is ready to get on the field this week against the Arizona Cardinals.
“I’m feeling great, man,” the Saints cornerback said. “Looking forward to Week 1.”
The Saints cornerback suffered a leg injury during the preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens and did not play in the other three games. He returned to practice last week and is now expected to start against the Cardinals.
While one might assume it was a frustrating to suffer an injury in his first game with a new team, Browner said he didn’t let it shake him and view it as water under the bridge.
“I knew what I signed up for. The injury rate in football is 100 percent,” Browner said. “Everyone gets hurt. This is what I signed up for. I attacked my rehab and I’m back to where I want to be.”
While he was laid up, Browner continued to work with his teammates and emerged as one of the leaders of the secondary throughout the summer. He was recently recognized by his teammates and voted a captain.
Browner was somewhat surprised to be named a captain since it’s his first season in New Orleans, but he views it as a credit to the experience he gathered in stops with the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.
“I’m a veteran guy,” Browner said. “I’ve been around the block a little bit. I’ve seen a few things in my time.”
