Few numbers can be a better indicator of who is making a push for more playing time or costing themselves than the snap count.
And the Saints made some changes from Week One to Week Two. Wide receiver Willie Snead found himself featured more in the game plan, and New Orleans significantly increased playing time for guys like Bobby Richardson, Kasim Edebali and Obum Gwacham in an effort to get a little more juice in the pass rush.
One other thing to watch? Cam Jordan is an iron man. One week after playing a heavy 87 percent of the snaps against the Cardinals, Jordan never came off the field against Tampa Bay, something of a rarity for a defensive lineman.
Now that the season’s in full swing, the Advocate will keep a running blog of snap counts from week to week, helping fans track who’s trending into a bigger role or being handed a smaller piece of the piece of the pie.
