Four days after releasing him, the New Orleans Saints have re-signed cornerback Chris Carr, the player’s agent said on Twitter on Tuesday.

The Saints haven’t announced the transaction nor any corresponding move that may have been made to create room on the roster for it, but Carr’s agent, Buddy Baker, tweeted, “Congrats to my good friend and long-time client, Chris Carr, on signing back with the (Saints). (I) knew he (would) not be unemployed long.”

Carr, a nine-year pro, played 93 snaps of defense and some special teams for New Orleans in the five games between Sept. 22 and Oct. 27, breaking up two passes and picking off one. He posted four solo tackles and assisted on another one before he was cut on Saturday to allow the Saints (6-2) to remove linebacker Jonathan Vilma from short-term injured reserve and add him to the 53-man roster.

Vilma, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-August and missed the first seven games of the season, lined up on 12 snaps of defense in the 26-20 loss at the New York Jets (5-4) on Sunday and made one tackle.
