Pierre Thomas, the long-time Saints running back, has found a landing spot at the season’s midway point.
Thomas signed with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, according to his agent, Lamont Smith.
Thomas lands on a 49ers team desperate for help at running back after a rash of injuries. San Francisco lost Mike Davis to a broken hand and another former Saint, Reggie Bush, to a knee injury this week, and 49ers starter Carlos Hyde is dealing with a stress fracture.
San Francisco signed Thomas and Shaun Draughn to fill the gap.
Thomas, who was released in March, hasn’t been on a roster since the Saints let him go, although he’s had several tryouts. Thomas rushed for 222 yards, posted 378 receiving yards last season and three total touchdowns.
