Saints linebacker Dannell Ellerbe missed Tuesday's minicamp practice due to a foot injury, according to a league source.

The linebacker first missed action last week when he was not present during the organized team activity open to the media. He is expected to be healthy and ready to go by training camp.

Coach Sean Payton was asked about Ellerbe after Tuesday's practice and replied by saying the linebacker had been excused from the session.

Ellerbe is expected to compete for the starting weakside linebacker job, a role he has fulfilled for the Saints each of the last two seasons when healthy.
