Outside linebacker Martez Wilson, who has been dealing with an elbow injury, will be inactive for the New Orleans Saints as they host the Atlanta Falcons in their regular-season opener on Sunday.

That means the Saints will enter their divisional showdown with two outside linebackers, Junior Galette and Parys Haralson, indicating New Orleans may be prepared to use an array of formations with four down linemen as opposed to just three.

For the Atlanta Falcons, cornerback Asante Samuel will be inactive. Backup Robert McClain will start in his place, opposite rookie cornerback Desmond Trufant, a first-round pick for Atlanta.

Other inactives for the Saints include wide receiver Andy Tanner, wide receiver Robert Meachem, safety Isa Abdul-Quddus (ankle), tackle Terron Armstead and defensive end Glenn Foster (ankle).

For the Falcons, other inactives are running back Josh Vaughan, safety Kemal Ishmael, tackle Jeremy Trueblood, guard Harland Gunn, defensive tackle Travian Robertson and defensive tackle Stansly Maponga.

Samuel had been dealing with a knee injury.
