Five observations from Sunday’s practice session:

Rookie safety Pierre Warren is making good use of the opportunities provided to him with Jairus Byrd out. Warren, who worked with the second unit, had a nice pass breakup during 11-on-11 drills.

Cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste has some work to do. The 6-foot-3 rookie has intriguing size, but sometimes he is slow to flip his hips and get up field. He was exposed a few times during Sunday’s practice.

Defensive lineman Akiem Hicks twice badly beat guard Jahri Evans in a one-on-one drill.

Derek Dimke is keeping pace with Shayne Graham in the kicker battle, as both players connected on all of their field-goal attempts.

Corey White continues to receive reps at safety. A position change could be in the works.
