The ankle injury that held Brandin Cooks out of practice Wednesday is not considered serious, according to a source.

How or if it impacts this Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers remains to be seen.

Cooks did not appear to suffer an obvious injury during last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He was on the field throughout the final drive of the game, at one point gaining 21 yards on a short pass over the middle that he turned up the field for a big gain.

With Drew Brees battling a shoulder injury that could keep him out of action or put him on the field at less than 100 percent this week, New Orleans needs Cooks available to play.
