By this point in his Saints career, it’s hard for Drew Brees to surprise New Orleans.

But he debuted something a little different during the Saints’ final organized team activity last week, wearing a black glove on his left hand at times during practice.

Brees said he was just experimenting with the glove to see if he could get a better grip in adverse conditions.

“This is the time to try that kind of stuff out,” Brees said.

The glove was gone again on Tuesday during the first day of the Saints’ three-day minicamp. Judging by his reaction, Brees isn’t likely going to make the glove a part of his daily routine.

“I just experimented with it, just kind of for fun when it came to just grip, and I’m really just a bare hand guy, but I think there are times when it can be necessary,” Brees said. “So at least just having a feel for it in case that time does come, it’s not the first time I’ve ever done it.”
