CHARLOTTE, N.C. — C.J. Spiller’s return has divvied up the carries in the Saints’ backfield a little bit so far.

But Mark Ingram remains the lead back for New Orleans.

Ingram got 44 snaps, Khiry Robinson took 15 and C.J. Spiller took 16, doubling his workload from his Saints debut against Tampa Bay.

On the defensive side of the ball, New Orleans’ biggest shift came on the defensive line. Instead of going with the speed guys, the Saints gave rookie Tyeler Davison the highest workload of his young career and chose Tavaris Barnes over speedy pass rusher Obum Gwacham for the active roster, a move likely made to try and limit Carolina’s running game.

One other thing to watch: Wide receiver Joe Morgan was the only position player who was active and didn’t receive a snap.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the snap counts from Sunday’s 27-22 loss.
