Advocate staff photo by PATRICK DENNIS -- Saints S Marcus Ball (36) breaks up a pass intended for WR Charles Hawkins (18) as LB Todd Davis (95) moves in to help during the Saints scrimmage Saturday in the Training Camp at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

Marcus Ball will make his debut today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Imported from the Canadian Football League this offseason, Ball missed the first four games with a hamstring injury.

His return to health comes at the right time as safety Jairus Byrd was shutdown with a knee injury earlier this week. Rafael Bush is expected to start in Byrd’s place.

Linebacker David Hawthorne will also return to lineup after missing last week’s game with an ankle injury.

Wide receivers Joe Morgan and Nick Toon, running back Mark Ingram (hand), fullback Erik Lorig (ankle), linebacker Ronald Powell, and defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick will not be active today’s game.
