The steady and at times heavy rain that fell across south Louisiana on Tuesday wiped out most of the state’s college baseball games.
Tulane’s matchup with visiting Southern Miss was pushed back to Tuesday, May 12. The Wave will next be in action Friday, when it hosts Central Florida at 6:30 p.m. to open a three-game American Athletic Conference series.
UNO had a pair of games washed out. The Privateers were slated to visit Jackson State on Tuesday; that game was pushed back to Tuesday, April 28. And they were in line to visit Southern on Wednesday, but that game was canceled. The Privateers open a Southland Conference series at 6:30 p.m. Friday against visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Nicholls (vs. South Alabama) and Loyola (at Spring Hill) also had games washed out.
SOUTHEASTERN 5, UL-LAFAYETTE 3: In Lafayette, the Lions scored three runs in the eighth inning to end the Cajuns’ six-game winning streak.
Six consecutive hitters reached with out one in the eighth as Southeastern improved to 27-11. The Cajuns (21-14) got the tying run to the plate in the eighth and ninth but couldn’t come through.
