WILMINGTON, N.C. — A three-run sixth inning that featured Stephen Alemais’ two-run single put the Tulane baseball team ahead to stay in its 8-4 victory over UNC Wilmington on Tuesday.

Alemais, Jake Rogers and Lex Kaplan each had two hits for Tulane (19-10), which opened its four-game spring-break trip to North Carolina on a winning note. Rogers and Kaplan also scored twice.

In the sixth, Alemais’ hit brought home Jackson Johnson and Richard Carthon to put Tulane ahead 5-3. Alemais scored on a wild pitch later in the inning.

John Gandolfo hit a solo homer in the third for Tulane. Patrick Duester (4-2) lasted 5.2 innings, allowing three runs and striking out eight. Eric Steel got his second save, allowing one run in 2.1 innings.

Nick Feight homered for UNCW (18-8).

The Green Wave faces American Athletic Conference foe East Carolina for three games starting Thursday in Greenville, N.C.
