Observations of note from Tuesday’s practice:

1. Senior running back Danté Butler missed Tuesday’s practice due to pink eye. Coach Curtis Johnson said he expects Butler to return on Wednesday.

2. Running back Sherman Badie exploded through the middle of the line and raced past the entire Tulane defense en route to a 50-yard touchdown on Tuesday. Tulane only had two runs of longer than 50 yards in 2013 while Badie redshirted.

3. Freshman receiver Niguel Veal also displayed his fleet feet, catching a pass across the middle, taking it up the sideline and burning by Tulane’s secondary for a score. However, it was ruled Veal stepped out bounds on his way up-field.

4. Starting quarterback Tanner Lee executed an 80-yard, two-minute drill. A pass interference call on Nico Marley kept the drive alive, eventually leading to Lee’s touchdown pass to tight end Charles Jones. Devin Powell and Nick Montana’s drives stalled in the red zone.
