Three Tulane players were honored by the American Athletic Conference on Monday following the Green Wave’s 31-24 upset victory at Houston on Saturday.

Cornerback Parry Nickerson was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week after his two-interception performance. Both picks came in the fourth quarter, starting with a leaping grab on the sideline midway through the period and culminating with a running grab in the end zone on the final play of the game.

The redshirt freshman has six interceptions this season, ranked third nationally behind Louisville’s Gerod Holliman (13) and Ole Miss’ Senquez Golson (nine).

Tulane quarterback Tanner Lee and running back Dontrell Hilliard each earned honorable mention notice for their play. Lee threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Hilliard gained 85 yards rushing and 107 yards receiving in his first career start, posting a pair of touchdowns.
