The Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2014 announced Saturday features baseball standouts Brian Bogusevic and Micah Owings, Louisiana natives Matt Forte from football and Kim Lewis from men’s basketball and women’s track and field program icon Gloria Asumnu.
The induction ceremony will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m Nov. 13 at the Lavin-Bernick Center on Tulane’s uptown campus. The group will then be honored at halftime of Tulane’s homecoming footballgame against Memphis on Nov. 15 at Yulman Stadium on Saturday. These five inductees combined for a total of 10 All-America honors a total of 10 times. Asumnu was a four-time All-American, while Bogusevic earned All-America honors three times and Owings reached that status twice. Bogusevic and Owings led the Green Wave baseball team to the finest season in school history with a No. 1 national ranking and a trip to the College World Series.
Forte earned All-America honors as a senior and turned in one of the most prolific single seasons in NCAA history, while Lewis was one of the leaders in the resurgence of Tulane basketball in the 1990s and helped that program reach its pinnacle during the decade.
