HOUSTON — Looking to bounce back from its loss at South Florida, the Tulane women’s basketball team beat Houston 63-46 Tuesday night.

Four players scored in double figures for the Green Wave (16-4, 7-2 American Athletic Conference. Danielle Blagg led the way with 15 points, Kolby Morgan added 13, and Chinwe Duru and Leslie Vorpahl each scored 11 points.

Vorpahl, who had just one shot attempt in the first half, went 4-for-4 from the field in the second, including three 3-pointers.

“We really battled at times. Some different players stepped up to score. First half, Chinwe (Duru) did a really nice job every time we got it in there. Just a good team win,” Tulane coach Lisa Stockton said.

After Houston (6-14, 1-8) started the game 4-for-9 from the field, the Green Wave defense limited the Cougars to five field goals over their next 25 attempts. The Cougars were scoreless in the final 3:08 of the first half.

Tyler Gilbert scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for Houston. Alecia Smith also scored 13 points.
