New Tulane baseball coach David Pierce announced the additions of Sean Allen, Philip Miller and Phil Haig to his staff for the 2015 season.

All three join the program as assistant coaches after serving under Pierce at Sam Houston State since 2012.

“It’s a unique situation in college baseball to have an entire staff move together in a coaching change,” Pierce said. “I like this staff, and I trust this staff. All three of these men will bring a great deal of energy, passion and knowledge to Tulane baseball. Anytime you can set aside personal agendas and egos for the benefit of the team, you have a chance to do great things collectively. This staff has these traits.”

Allen has plenty of coaching experience, having made stops at Florida International and at his alma mater, Houston, before serving as an assistant coach at SHSU for three years.

Miller’s most recent stop at SHSU was his second stint at the school; he also served as an assistant from 2006-09 before taking a job as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Northwestern State, for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Haig is a former pitcher at Illinois and FIU. For the past three seasons, he has worked as a volunteer coach with the Bearkats during one of the most successful periods in the program’s history.

In addition, Pierce retained Brian Meyer as director of baseball operations. He has been with the Green Wave since 2012.
