ROUND ROCK, Texas — Travis Snider homered and had two hits, and Clayton Blackburn threw five scoreless innings as the Round Rock Express beat the New Orleans Baby Cakes 3-2 on Thursday. With the victory, the Express swept the four-game series.

R.J. Alvarez got Christian Colon to hit into a forceout with a runner on first to end the game for his fifth save of the season.

Blackburn (4-2) allowed two hits while striking out two to get the win.

After four scoreless innings, Round Rock broke through in the bottom of the fifth when Brett Hayes hit a solo home run and Jurickson Profar added an RBI single.

After the teams traded runs, the Baby Cakes cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Brandon Barnes hit an RBI single, scoring Colon.

Justin Nicolino (4-4) went five innings, allowing two runs and four hits. He also struck out three and walked three.

Back at home

The Baby Cakes return home for their first series since the All-Star break, a four-game set from Friday-Monday against the Nashville Sounds.

The Baby Cakes will transform into the 1942 Pelicans in Friday’s series opener, wearing their throwback uniforms for the first time. All military personnel and their families get discounted $5 admission with valid military ID. By bringing a nonperishable food item to the box office, fans will receive two free tickets to the Aug. 5 game, with all donations going to Second Harvest Food Bank.
