MEMPHIS — Scott Copeland allowed one run in six innings and the New Orleans Baby Cakes defeated the Memphis Redbirds 7-3 in the series finale on Tuesday.

Peter Mooney hit a first-inning home run, the New Orleans shortstop’s fourth home run of the season. He has hit home runs in three consecutive games.

The Baby Cakes offense pounded out 16 hits in the game, led by Grant Green four hits and three RBIs. Chad Hinshaw added three hits, including a two-run double.

Copeland allowed a leadoff home run to Brevic Valera in the first. He then loaded the bases with no one out and then sent the Birds down in order with a pair of strikeouts and a groundout. Copeland earned his ninth win of the season.

The Babt Cakes earned a split in the series with the Redbirds.

The Baby Cakes return home for a 7 p.m. game Thursday against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.
