Zephyrs 10, Redhawks 1
Oklahoma City — Juan Diaz and Kyle Jensen drilled home runs as the New Orleans Zephyrs offense erupted for 10 runs on 13 hits and snapped a five game losing streak.
Anthony DeSclafani (2-2) pitched seven innings allowing one run on six hits to earn his second win of the season for the Zephyrs.
The Z’s trailed 1-0 in the third inning when Mark Canha doubled home Yordany Valdespin to tie the game. A Rob Brantly sacrifice fly gave the Zephyrs the lead. Juan Diaz then blasted a three-run homer to give the Z’s a five-run inning and a 5-1 lead.
The Z’s knocked Redhawks starter Mike Foltynewicz (6-6) out of the game in the fourth inning. The Z’s have knocked around the Astros prospect for 16 earned runs in three appearances spanning six and two third innings this season.
Kyle Jensen connected on his team leading 16th home run in the eighth inning. Jensen picked up two hits and also leads the team with 60 RBIs.
The Z’s picked up ground in the division with the win and trail first-place Nashville by 2½ games.
The Zephyrs added outfielder Jake Marisnick from the Marlins. ... Taylor Krick was placed on the disabled list. ... Andrew Heaney will rejoin the team on Tuesday. The Zephyrs have homered in eight of their last nine games and have 95 homers on the season, just 10 shy of last years’ total. Mark Canha extended his hitting streak to a season best nine games.
The Zephyrs continue their series in Oklahoma City on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at Bricktown Ballpark.
