COLORADO SPRINGS — Brian Anderson led of the 10th inning with an inside-the-park home run and New Orleans rallied to defeat Colorado Springs 6-4 in the first game of the series.
The win snapped a 13-game road losing streak for the Baby Cakes and gave them their first road win since July 15. New Orleans has won six of its past eight games.
The Baby Cakes trailed 3-1 in the seventh, but New Orleans sent seven batters to the plate to score three runs and take a 4-3 lead. The Sox tied it at 4 in the bottom of the seventh.
Anderson drilled a line drive to center field to lead off the 10th, center fielder Lewis Brinson dove and missed the ball and the Baby Cakes infielder sprinted around the bases for the inside the park home run.
The inside the park homer was New Orleans' first since Adam Everett's one on July 24, 2002 against Nashville.
Steve Lombardozzi led the Baby Cakes with three hits in a 13-hit attack.
