NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Chad Pinder slashed a double to left field, and Joey Wendle scored from first to give the Nashville Sounds a 7-6 win at First Tennessee Park on Tuesday. The Zephyrs (9-11) won three of four in the series heading into an off day on Wednesday.
Nashville scored single runs in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead as New Orleans starter Dylan Axelrod struggled early but pitched out of trouble in both innings.
The Zephyrs three consecutive hits in the third inning, including the two-run home run from Xaxier Scruggs, to take a 3-2. New Orleans added a run in the fifth inning on a Don Kelly RBI base hit.
Nashville touched up Axelrod for three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead. The Z’s re-took the lead in the seventh with a pair of runs.
Max Muncy led off the seventh inning with a solo home run to tie the game at 6.
Nashville got a lead off infield hit in the ninth, and Pinder’s double snapped the Sounds’ four-game skid.
Ryan Brasier earned the win in relief.
