ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — Jared Hoying had a pair of hits and drove in a run as the Round Rock Express defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-2 in the final game of a four-game series on Thursday.
The teams spilt the series.
Former LSU standout Austin Nola singled and scored on a Destin Hood double to give the Zephyrs a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.
The Express answered with a pair of runs in the sixth inning and added a run in the seventh.
Robert Andino drilled a solo home run in the eighth. The Zephyrs (32-33) left runners on base in the eighth and ninth but were unable to score in both innings.
Michael Roth pitched seven innings, allowing one run on three hits for the win. Dylan Axelrod worked seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits in the loss.
Anthony Carter pitched the ninth for his second save.
