NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The New Orleans Zephyrs got a big night from their offense in a 9-6 victory Sunday against the Nashville Sounds.
The win was the Zephyrs’ season-best fourth in a row and improved their record to 46-56.
Isaac Galloway and Jhonatan Solano each had three RBIs, and five Zephyrs had multi-hit performances.
The Sounds’ first four hitters reached base as they grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning. But Zephyrs starter Rob Morey, who filled in as a spot starter after Andre Rienzo was promoted to the Miami Marlins, settled in and retired 15 of the next 17 hitters to earn his second win.
The offense erupted in the fourth, sending 10 hitters to the plate in a five-run inning. The Zephyrs added a pair of runs in the fifth and seventh.
Galloway stole a base in the fifth, just the Zephyrs’ second stolen base in their past 32 games.
The Zephyrs continue their road trip at 7:05 p.m. Monday at Nashville. The Z’s will start RHP Jose Urena (6-1, 2.44 ERA) against Sounds LHP Barry Zito (6-7, 3.54). The game will be broadcast on WMTI-FM, 106.1.
The Zephyrs return home Tuesday against Colorado Springs for a four-game homestand.
