Zephyrs 4, Storm Chasers 3

Matt Angle singled to centerfield in the tenth inning to score Jordany Valdespin and give the New Orleans Zephyrs a 4-3 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers.

The Chasers scored a pair of runs off Zephyr starter Brian Flynn in the second inning. Matt Fields doubled to left field scoring Carlos Peguero. Jesus Flores singled with two outs scoring Fields and the Chasers took a 2-0 advantage.

The Zephyrs tied the game in the fourth inning with a two run home run from Juan Diaz. The Zephyrs offense had several scoring opportunities out-hitting Omaha 14-9. The Z’s also left a season high 15 men on base.

The Z’s took the lead in the ninth inning with a Kyle Jensen RBI single. Chris Hatcher could not close out Omaha. He struck out all three batters in the ninth, but allowed a solo homer to Fields to tie the game with two outs.

The Z’s put together a two out rally in the tenth inning with hits from Valdespin and Josh Rodriguez and the RBI hit from Angle to take a 4-3 lead. Hatcher remained in the game allowed a hit and a walk but finished the game to earn his first win of the season.

Game notes

The Z’s improved to 1-3 in extra-inning games and 5-0 against Omaha this season.
