Des Moines , Iowa – New Orleans Zephyrs starter Andrew Heaney had a perfect game through six innings and had delivered just 54 pitches at Principal Park. But in the seventh inning, the Iowa Cubs broke it up with a pair of hits and a pair of walks and defeated the Zephyrs 1-0 in a pitchers’ duel.

Matt Szczur led off the seventh with a single. Brett Jackson then reached on a swinging bunt as catcher Rob Brantly dove for the ball but came up empty. Heaney then walked Kris Bryant and Chris Valaika to allow the game’s only run. Heaney (3-2) threw 32 pitches in the seventh inning.

The Z’s were shut down by Iowa starter Dallas Beeler (7-3), who allowed six hits in seven innings and earned the win. The Z’s threatened in several innings and left seven men on base.

Zac Rosscup and Blake Parker shut down the Zephyrs in the final two innings for the save.

It’s the third time in the past two seasons the Zephyrs and Cubs have played a 1-0 game at Principal Park.
