PAPILLION, Neb. — Justin Nicolino allowed three hits and an unearned run in six innings as the New Orleans Zephyrs posted a 4-3 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Monday night.

The win let New Orleans (4-7) split the four-game series. The Zephyrs start a four-game set at Iowa on Tuesday night, then begin a four-game home series against Nashville on Saturday.

Nicolino struck out five and walked one for his first win of the season. Nick Wittgren gave up a two-run homer to Omaha’s Brett Eibner in the ninth but held on for his first save.

Brady Shoemaker was 3-for-4 with a sixth-inning solo homer for the Zephyrs. Jhonatan Solano added a solo shot of his own, and Vinny Rotino was 2-for-4.

In the seventh, the Zephyrs’ Cole Gillespie scored what ended up being the winning run. He singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third and then came home on a throwing error on catcher J.C. Boscan.
