OKLAHOMA CITY — The host Dodgers rallied for three runs in the seventh inning and tacked on two more in the eighth to score a victory over the Zephyrs on Saturday night to open a five-game series.
Catcher Brandon Bantz’s throwing error in the seventh brought home a pair of runs for Oklahoma City and gave it a 4-3 lead. Corey Seager and Kyle Jensen had RBI hits in the eighth to add on some insurance.
New Orleans (49-58) scored single runs in the first, second and third innings but couldn’t dent the scoreboard after that. Juan Diaz finished 3-for-5 with a double and a run.
Seager went 4-for-5 with two runs for Oklahoma City, while Jensen finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Lay Batista (0-2) took the loss; he allowed five runs (three earned) in 2.1 innings of relief of Chris Narveson. The starter allowed one run and seven hits in 5.2 innings.
Ramon Troncoso (3-1) got the win for Oklahoma City; Chin-hui Tsao closed for his sixth save.
The teams play a doubleheader Sunday starting at 3:35 p.m.
