Nashville, Tenn. — New Orleans pounded out a season-high 12 hits and scored three first inning runs and defeated the Nashville Sounds on Sunday.
The Z’s sent seven batters to the plate in the first inning and scored three runs. Destin Hood picked up his team-leading 20th RBI with a single. Adrien Nieto smacked a two out single to score a pair of runs.
Paul Clemens allowed three hits in the first five innings and limited the Sounds to one run. The veteran in the sixth inning allowed two runs on two hits and a walk. Three relievers worked the final 3.1 innings to put the finishing touches on the win, with Nefi Ogando earning a save. Clemens improves to 2-1 and Jesse Hahn (0-1) takes the loss for Nashville.
Kenny Wilson led the Zephyrs with three hits as four Zephyrs had multi-hit games.
The Zephyrs improve to 8-10 and have won the first two games on the road trip.
Hood is second in the PCL with 20 RBIs and is tied with five home runs.
The Zephyrs have won eight of 10 games played at First Tennessee Park, dating back to the opening of the ballpark last season.
The Marlins promoted left handed pitcher Cody Ege from the Zephyrs.
The Zephyrs’ next home game will be Thursday against the Memphis Redbirds.
