ROUND ROCK, Texas — Marlins top prospect Andrew Heaney pitched six shutout innings as the New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the Round Rock Express in a rain shortened 7-inning contest late Tuesday at The Dell Diamond.

Heaney (1-0) allowed a first-inning hit to former Zephyr Bryan Petersen and then shut down the Express, striking out seven. He threw 78 pitches, 55 for strikes for his first Triple-A victory.

The Zephyrs hit three consecutive doubles in the second inning, and Brian Bogusevic drilled a two run home run. Jordany Valdespin homered in the fourth inning to make it 5-0. Juan Diaz homered in the fifth inning and the Zephyrs added three unearned runs in the sixth to make it 9-0.

Heaney went out to pitch the seventh inning when heavy rains started to fall. The game was delayed for 45 minutes before the field was deemed unplayable.

Daniel McCutchen (0-4) pitched four innings and took the loss for the Express.
