NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The New Orleans Zephyrs got three runs on just three hits and held on to defeat the Nashville Sounds 3-1 on Saturday night at First Tennessee Park.
The Zephyrs won their third consecutive game to improve to 45-55.
Justin Nicolino bounced back from his shortest outing as a Zephyr, working eight innings and allowing one run on five hits for his sixth win.
The Zephyrs got the most from their three hits. In the fifth inning, Austin Nola worked a walk, and Isaac Galloway followed with a triple and scored on a throwing error on the relay.
Nashville answered with a run in the seventh. Jason Pridie led off with a single that dropped in front of Marcell Ozuna. Pridie stole second and advanced to third on a ground out. He scored on another groundout by Nate Freiman.
The Z’s added to the lead in the ninth with a home run from Ozuna. Scott McGough made his Z’s debut, working the ninth inning and earned the save.
UP NEXT: The Zephyrs continue their road trip in Nashville on Sunday with a 6:35 p.m. game against the Sounds. The Z’s will start RHP Rob Morey (1-2, 2.83 ERA) vs. Sounds RHP Nate Long (2-2, 4.82). The game will be broadcast on WMTI-FM, 106.1.
