Colorado Springs, Colo. — The New Orleans Zephyrs scored four runs in the seventh inning to rally past the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 4-3.
The Zephyrs trailed 3-0 after six innings and had been held to a pair of hits. Sox starting pitcher Yohan Flande allowed two hits in the seventh and was relieved by Rob Scahill. The Zephyrs bats came alive with two outs when Juan Diaz doubled, scoring a pair of runs. Pinch hitter Matt Angle doubled in a run to tie the game, and Jordany Valdespin doubled home the go ahead run to give the Zephyars the lead.
Elih Villanueva (4-2) pitched six innings allowed three runs on nine hits and earned the win. Chris Hatcher pitched the final three innings and earned the save, his fifth of the season. Hatcher allowed a lead off hit in the ninth but retired the next three hitters.
Scahill (1-1) took the loss.
The save by Hatcher is his 49th as a New Orleans Zephyr, tying him with Jim Mann for tops in franchise history. Angle picked up his fourth pinch hit of the season and his third of the road-trip. The Zephyrs will add pitcher Alex Sanabia on Monday.
