Memphis, Tenn . — The New Orleans Zephyrs pounded a season-high 13 runs and defeated the Memphis Redbirds 13-1 on Friday night at AutoZone Park.
Brandon Bantz and Derek Dietrich led the Zephyrs’ offensive attack by driving home four runs. The Z’s matched a season high with 19 hits.
New Orleans starting the scoring in the first inning with a two-run homer by Vinny Rottino. The Z’s added a pair in the second with a two-run homer from Brandon Bantz.
The Z’s scored three more in the seventh, five in the eighth and added a run in the ninth.
Jose Urena was impressive in the win, working 7.1 innings and scattering seven hits.
Memphis scored a run off Rob Morey in the ninth inning. Kyle Hald took the loss for Memphis.
The Zephyrs’ 19 hits matched their output on Opening Day in their loss to Omaha. The two home runs hit by the Z’s matched a season high, too. ...
