Jhonatan Solano’s two-run home run helped stake the International League All-Stars to a 4-0 lead en route to a 7-3 win over the Pacific Coast League All-Stars in the Triple-A All-Star game on Wednesday night in Durham, North Carolina.
Solano’s second-inning blast came after the International stars scored two in the first off Zephyrs pitcher Elih Villanueva.
All four early runs were charged to Villanueva, who was touched for four runs on four hits in 1.2 innings. Villanueva, who took the loss, walked two and struck out one.
The International All-Stars added three more in the sixth. The PCL Stars scored single runs in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings.
Chris Taylor (3-for-4, two doubles) led the PCL’s nine-hit attack.
Ivan DeJesus and Felix Perez each had two hits. The International All-Stars finished with 10.
Former LSU star Mikie Mahtook went 0-for-4 for the International All-Stars.
The Zephyrs are back in action 8:05 p.m. Thursday at the Omaha Storm Chasers.
