COLORADO SPRINGS — The New Orleans Baby Cakes scored 11 runs on 14 hits and held on to win a slugfest 11-10 on Sunday night.

The Baby Cakes had six players with multi-hit performances, and Brian Anderson collected three RBIs.

The Baby Cakes and Sky Sox battled back and forth, with New Orleans scoringd four runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull ahead. Starting pitcher Mike Kickham earned his second consecutive win. Severino Gonzalez got the final two outs in the ninth inning for his second save.

New Orleans led 11-6 heading into the ninth inning, but the Sky Sox sent eight batters to the plate and scored four runs. Gonzalez came out of the bullpen to extinguish the rally.

The Baby Cakes have won back-to-back road games for the first time since mid-July and improved to 47-71.


The start of the game was delayed for 23 minutes due to threat of rain, it was the seventh delay in the past nine days for the Baby Cakes. ... New Orleans won for the second consecutive night when trailing after six innings, the team is now 3-54 when trailing after six. ... New Orleans will continue a four-game series at Colorado Springs at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Baby Cakes will start RHP Omar Bencomo.
